Red Flag Warning issued March 13 at 1:32PM CDT until March 14 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX...GUSTY WINDS AND VERY DRY AIR BEHIND A DRYLINE AND PACIFICFRONT WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FRIDAYAFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING....A dryline and Pacific cold front are expected to move acrossSouth Central Texas during the day Friday. Strong west tonorthwest winds and very dry air behind the front will bringcritical fire weather conditions across much of the region. Theseconditions will quickly spread eastward, becoming widespreadalong and west of the I-35 corridor by noon. Sustained westerlywinds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 35 mph will coincide with RHvalues of of 5 to 15 percent along and west of the I-35 corridorFriday afternoon and early evening. Winds are forecast todiminish after sunset Friday. Stronger winds are forecast acrossall of South- Central Texas on Saturday, and combined with a verydry air across the region will result in another critical fireweather day.The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued aRed Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is ineffect from noon to 9 PM CDT Friday. A Fire Weather Watch has alsobeen issued for gusty winds and low humidity from Saturdayafternoon through Saturday evening.* AFFECTED AREA...Hill Country, Southern Edwards Plateau, RioGrande Plains, and I-35 corridor.* TIMING...For the Red Flag Warning, from noon to 9 PM CDTFriday. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Saturday afternoonthrough Saturday evening.* WINDS...For Friday, west to northwest winds 15 to 25 mph withgusts to 35 mph. For Saturday northwest winds 20 to 30 mph withgusts up to 45 mph.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 5 to 15 percent.* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will rapidly increase in sizeand intensity, move quickly, and be very difficult to control.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now....or will shortly.
