Heat Advisory issued July 3 at 12:29PM CDT until July 4 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL* WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 degrees are possible in theadvisory area.* WHERE...A portion of central Alabama.* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Thursday.* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures with high humiditymay cause heat illnesses.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children andpets should never be left unattended in vehicles under anycircumstances.Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Whenpossible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning orevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstoke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possibleand drink plenty of water.To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks inshaded or air conditioned environments.
